Twin, male calves are born on a dairy farm in Vermont. They are to be slaughtered that week. Wednesday, May 27th Destination Liberation announces their rescue operation. Sunday, May 31st Destination Liberation delivers the boys, now Oscar & Phoenix, to Project Cecil Rescue Ranch. Saturday, June 23rd Oscar's first hernia surgery. Thursday, August 6th Oscar's second hernia surgery. Saturday, August 29th Oscar is diagnosed with another hernia, taped up, and put on limited activity while he continues to grow and his first hernia continues to heal. |
When I first decided on the names, Oscar and Phoenix, I was immediately struck with this 'meant to be' emotion. I thought, that just sounds perfect, rolls right off the tongue. I burst into laughter the following day when I realized the familiarity was not a 'meant to be' thing—it was an Oscar and Felix thing. I grew up loving The Odd Couple. No wonder it sounded so familiar! 😂 |
